The Northern Neck Blacksmiths Association is designed to promote the Art of Blacksmithing. Catering to the Northern Neck area but not limiting to, it is our desire to promote Blacksmithing using traditional methods and to assist anyone who has the desire to learn and basically wants to have some fun. Blacksmithing is a traditional way of life that is fading, and it is the hope of this group, to see that it isn't lost or forgotten. Membership in this group will open up new avenues for the aspiring Smith. Once bitten by the forging bug, you will wonder why you didn't join sooner. The Association is organized exclusively for educational purposes, including the following: to encourage and facilitate the establishment of training programs for aspiring smiths; to disseminate information about sources of material and equipment; to expose the art of blacksmithing to the public; to serve as a center of information about blacksmithing for architects, interior designers, other interested groups and the general public.
No part of the net earnings of the Association are to the benefit of, or be distributable to its members, trustees, officers, or other private persons, except that the Association shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered. . .
Membership is open to ALL for a small annual membership fee.
Membership has the advantage of making it easier for people to identify you as a blacksmith.
In the blacksmithing community, there are many Hammer-Ins that you can attend. Through these functions you will meet many talented people that make a way of life through art. You will also have the find the many schools that offer classes in areas of metal work that most people don't know exist. That tradition of sharing and friendship is the most unique aspect the blacksmithing community it represents.
